On Saturday, 26th March we will be conducting a walk around the historical site of Ewood. Learn how the area developed from a deer park, to an important iron works and back to agricultural use. 1st July – Battle of the Somme Remembrance

At 7.15 am we will be gathering at the Newdigate war memorial to remember the start of the Battle of the Somme. We will remember the Newdigate lads who lost their lives in the three months long battle. After a moment of contemplation a whistle will sound at 7.30 am. Everyone is welcome to attend

This year's village outing is to Winchester. Everyone is welcome but early booking is recommended as this event is very popular.   We meet at the Village Hall and a coach will take us to Winchester. Fanny Burney and the French Connection by Sir Brian Unwin after the AGM

Fanny Burney was a remarkable woman who lived through turbulent times and survived a mastectomy (without anesthetic!). She was an author and had strong local connections at Juniper Hall and Mickleham. Sir Brian will be presenting his illustrated talk immediately after the AGM and it will be based on his book 'A Tale in Two Cities'. Fanny died in 1840 at the grand age of 88. A talk about the Grand National winner by Andrew Wates OBE., DL We had a record turnout with close on one hundred people who enjoyed a fascinating talk. Andrew spoke with passion about his much loved horse ' Rough Quest' and the talk was backed up with film of the Ritz Handicap and Grand National. The audience cheered on the winner and applause broke out as 'Rough Quest' stormed through.
