St. Peter's Church, Newdigate was filled to capacity as the audience witnessed the play reading entitled A Village at War. Written by John Callcut the reading told the story of the war from 1914-1918 from four different aspects. Martin Gilpin played the part of the Reverend Bird, the kindly priest, who shared the pain of the villagers and lost his son in 1915. The Centre of Newdigate through Time – A talk by Jane Lilley

Jane will talk about the places in the centre of the village and the people who lived there. The stories won't be found in books - these are anecdotes and quirky snippets of information about former times which she has unearthed. Jane will also be showing and sellng her recent book entitled 'A Walk Around the Village of Newdigate'. Entry is £2.00 for members and £4.00 for non-members.
